Schorl Crystal Specimen with Feldspar and Iron Oxide – NAM 022

Measurements:  120 x 100 x 65 mm

Description:  A schorl crystal specimen (variety foitite) with shiny facets amongst a sprinkling of whitish feldspar, mostly on one side. 

The other side has some iron oxide on some parts of the schorl. 

The specimen, which displays well on a flat surface, all-round, has a few large contact marks.

                                       KAlSi₃O₈  (feldspar)                             

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (schorl)  7.5
                                          (feldspar)  6 - 6.5
