Quartz Crystal Group with Hematite Inclusions – NC 008

Measurements:  75 x 50 x 35 mm 

Description:  A group of quartz crystals with hematite inclusions and bits of feldspar on it.

The main termination has a nick, while the rest of the specimen has a few broken crystals and contact marks.

Weight of Specimen:  67.5 g

Chemical Composition:  SiO₂ (quartz)
                                        KAlSi₃O₈ (feldspar)

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (quartz) 7 
                                           (feldspar) 6 - 6.5

Location:  Orange River area, Northern Cape, South Africa.
