Quartz Crystal Group – NC 010

Quartz crystal group, fairly large specimen

Measurements:  150 x 105 x 90 mm

Description:  A group of quartz crystals, with the back having deep pressure marks where feldspar crystals once sat (there are still bits of fledspar on the specimen).

The termination has only minute nicks, while the rest of the specimen has a few flaws.

This fairly big specimen, displays well on a flat surface.

Chemical Composition:  SiO2 (quartz)
                                        KAlSi3O8 (feldspar)

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (quartz) 7 
                                             (feldspar) 6 - 6.5

Location:  Orange River area, Northern Cape, South Africa.
