'Citrine' Quartz Crystals on Matrix OTH 032

Citrine quartz crystals on basalt matrix

Measurements:  90 x 68 x 35 mm

Description:  Citrine quartz crystals sit on a quartz conglomorate matrix. 

The crystals were originally amethyst, but the specimen was then baked at a high temperature (roughly 400 degrees C) for about half a day, which turned the colour to citrine.  

The only notable damage is to the edges of the specimen.
