Dolomite Cast - TS 035

Dolomite cast with one side covered with minute crystals

Measurements:  88 x 60 x 08 mm

Description:  A dolomite cast, with one side covered with minute crystals (unknown to us). When turned in light, each of the concave surfaces show lovely shiny, minute, stepped patterns (image bottom right).

The only notable damage is to the edges of the cast.

Weight of Specimen:  26 g

Chemical Composition:  CaMg(CO3)2  (dolomite)             

Hardness on Mohs Scale:  (dolomite)  3.5-4

Location:  Tsumeb, Northern Namibia.
